They almost forgot about our 2002 Kings...now the NBA will forever remember the coach of the "GREATEST SHOW ON COURT".

Really underrated coach.... Within all these years that he coached the Kings to playoff, the rosters went down from C-Webb+Peja+Bibby to Wells, Thomas and Artest. I really hope he could come back to SAC as a consultant or something.

Rick had a gift of treating men like men and not messing up the chemistry. You dont last 23 years without talent and tolerance. That sacramento team was special and had a real chance to breakthrough. The blazers were great too but faced some significantly more talented teams. The rockets were very good. In some ways yao slowed them down but provided some rim protection . Firm but fair leader with an awesome record.

I became a Trail Blazers fan in 91. Adelman to me was an amazing coach and it’s sad that more than anything this video shows how time has passed. Seeing him age and how much time has gone by makes me very sad and appreciate him and everyone else more. Thank you Rick for everything you did for Portland and all these other teams.

Very good coach. His teams always fell short just a bit. The East was very strong at the start of the 90s and Portland couldn't quite get past the Finals. 2000s Sacramento was very good and original, but despite bad/biased refereeing they came into a very composed Lakers team that executed when it counted.

This guys was a great coach. Should have won an NBA title with Portland back in the late'80s/early '90s and Sacramento in the early/mid '00s. The Kings just had bad luck in '02 (refs) and ;03 (Weber knee injury during the playoffs). Man those Kings teams were good and fun to watch. Late '90s - mid '00s. Great passing team.

Rick Adelman was a great part of the Portland Community. His family deeply cared about Portland. Like passing on Jordan, Durant, both splash brothers, and trading Petro. Letting coach Adelman go was a huge mistake. People are worth more than money. Coach Adelman deserved better treatment and Portland. Always working with less he still one. Congratulations on great career. Please do consulting for Blazers so they can get pass the first round. Have a good year stay healthy.

Any video game I had at that time I always played with the Kings. Those guys were so much fun to watch!!! Should be NBA champions if not for a crooked referee.

Anyone can go back and watch that NBA hard wood classic game or just type in "Tim Donaghy" - Kings Got Robbed Big Big Big Time.
Franchise never has fully recovered cuz NBA was forcing some b.s.
    Just a Canadian Raptors fan

    • joesakic91

      joesakic91

And the fans can also type "Pedowitz Report" and that report dismissed Tim Donaghy's claims. So by your logic, the NBA also "forced" the mega Boston Celtics dynasty under Bill Russell and Red Auerbach, the George Mikan Minneapolis Lakers, the Showtime Lakers, MJ and Bulls, the Lakers' three-peat, and the Splash Brother era Golden State Warriors? C'Mon Man.

@Fire Angel Luffo 2003 was arguably the biggest blow for Rick Adelman and the Greatest Show on Court era Sacramento Kings. Now, the Kings are not only suffering the Rick Adelman curse, but also their NorCal rival Golden State Warriors having their own pocket of title-winning success between 2015 and 2019.

The Pedowitz report squashed Tim Donaghy's claims. 2003 was a more incredible blow because that team was deeper until Chris Webber tore his lateral meniscus in his knee that saw him dip in form after that injury.
